Short answer
Ender 3 PLA+ temperature runs a little hotter than plain PLA, because PLA+ is a tougher blend. Start at a 210 to 220 C nozzle and a 50 to 60 C bed on a stock Ender 3, per the eSUN and SUNLU PLA+ datasheets. PLA+ keeps the easy printing of PLA but survives knocks better, which is the whole reason to choose it.
Starting PLA+ settings for the Ender 3
PLA+ prints like PLA with a small temperature bump. The eSUN PLA+ datasheet lists a 210 to 230 C nozzle and a 45 to 60 C bed, and SUNLU lists 205 to 215 C and 50 to 60 C. On a stock Ender 3, the middle of those ranges is a safe start.
| Setting | Recommended | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Nozzle temp | 210 to 220 C | A touch hotter than PLA. Stay under 240 C to protect the stock PTFE liner. |
| Bed temp | 50 to 60 C | PLA+ grips glass and PEI well. 60 C gives the cleanest first layer. |
| Retraction | 5 to 6 mm | Bowden-tube baseline. Add a little if you see stringing. |
| Part cooling | 90 to 100% | PLA+ likes strong cooling after the first layer for crisp overhangs. |
| Print speed | 40 to 60 mm/s | Stock Ender 3 speed. Slow outer walls for cleaner detail. |
| First layer | 210 C, 60 C bed, 20 mm/s | Hot and slow seats the tougher blend onto the sheet. |
How to adjust PLA+ settings on the Ender 3
Clean and level the bed
Wipe the glass or PEI with isopropyl alcohol and level for a light paper drag at all four corners. PLA+ sticks well to a clean, warm bed.
Set the temperatures
Nozzle to 215 C and bed to 60 C is a safe middle start from the eSUN and SUNLU datasheets.
Run cooling high after layer one
Keep the fan low or off for the first layer, then 90 to 100 percent. PLA+ handles strong cooling.
Tune retraction for stringing
Start at 5 mm. If fine hairs appear, step up toward 6 to 7 mm on the Bowden Ender 3.
Dry the spool if it pops
PLA+ is more tolerant than PETG but still absorbs moisture. Dry at 40 to 45 C if the print gets rough or stringy.
For the material background, the PLA+ hub covers what makes it tougher, and the PLA+ temperature settings page goes deeper. The Ender 3 plain PLA settings are the close sibling.
