How to adjust PLA settings

  1. Clean and warm the bed

    Wipe the textured PEI with isopropyl alcohol and set it to 55 °C. A clean, warm sheet is most of PLA adhesion on the A1.

  2. Set the temperatures

    Nozzle to 210 °C and bed to 55 °C is a safe start that melts PLA clean and grips the sheet.

  3. Run cooling low then full

    Keep the fans off for the first 2 to 3 layers, then set them to 100 percent with the auxiliary fan on.

  4. Tune retraction

    Start at 0.6 mm. If fine strings appear, step toward 1.0 mm until they clear.

What goes wrong

Most failed PLA prints on the A1 trace to a dirty sheet and too little cooling. A greasy or cold bed lifts the corners, so clean the PEI and hold 55 °C. PLA run with the fans low past the first layers droops on overhangs, so push cooling to 100 percent. A nozzle that is too cold under-extrudes at speed, which clears when you lift it toward 220 °C.
