The short answerABS or ASA. The Voron is built for them.
A Voron printer runs a heated enclosure, so it prints the materials other printers struggle with. ABS is the standard Voron part filament. ASA adds UV resistance for any part that sees sun. Both print clean in a Voron’s chamber.
What a Voron asks of a filament
A Voron is an enclosed coreXY printer built to print ABS and ASA without warping. Its heated chamber keeps the parts warm, so the layers bond and the corners stay down. That makes ABS and ASA the natural picks, where they would fail on an open printer.
How the materials compare
| Property | ABS | ASA |
|---|---|---|
| Voron standard | Yes | No |
| Heat resistance | High | High |
| UV resistance | Low | High |
| Enclosure needed | Yes | Yes |
| Best for | Voron parts | Sun-exposed parts |
When to pick ABS
Pick ABS for Voron parts. The Polymaker PolyLite ABS sheet lists a nozzle of 245 to 265 °C and a bed of 90 to 100 °C, and the Voron’s heated chamber keeps the part warm. ABS is the standard for printed Voron brackets and mounts.
When to pick ASA
Pick ASA for any part that will see sun, since ASA resists UV where ABS yellows. The Prusament ASA datasheet lists a heat deflection of 93 °C. ASA prints in the Voron chamber like ABS, with a small temperature bump.
